Regional HSE Manager
Do you want to move beyond simply managing compliance and have a genuine influence on safety culture across a regional operation?
We are working with a well-established organisation within the retail logistics and warehousing sector to appoint an experienced Regional HSE Manager covering the South West.
Salary: £55,000+
Car Allowance: £6,300
Working Pattern: Full-time, with approximately 3 days per week travelling across the regionThe Opportunity
This is a highly visible regional role where you will have the opportunity to make a genuine difference to health and safety culture, working closely with operational teams and site leadership to embed safety into everyday working practices.
You will support multiple sites across the South West, providing practical advice, constructive challenge and hands-on support to managers and employees.
This isn't a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk and simply monitor compliance. You'll be out in the operation, building relationships, influencing behaviours and helping teams understand why good HSE matters.
About the Role
As Regional HSE Manager, you will take ownership of the regional HSE agenda, working alongside operational leaders to maintain high standards and continually improve the organisation's safety culture.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing expert HSE advice, guidance and support to operational and senior management teams.
- Leading and developing the regional health and safety strategy.
- Supporting multiple logistics, warehouse and operational sites across the South West.
- Developing a positive, proactive safety culture, encouraging ownership and accountability at every level.
- Conducting site inspections, audits, risk assessments and compliance reviews.
- Investigating incidents and ensuring appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
- Monitoring HSE performance, identifying trends and developing improvement plans.
- Coaching managers and operational teams to improve health and safety standards.
- Supporting the development and implementation of HSE policies, procedures and management systems.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Delivering training and awareness initiatives where required.
- Working collaboratively with operational teams to embed HSE into day-to-day decision making.
- Providing regular HSE reporting, performance updates and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
This role is about much more than ticking boxes.
The organisation is looking for someone who can influence people, change behaviours and build a genuine safety culture across its operational sites.
You'll need to be comfortable getting out into the business, talking to people at all levels and understanding the realities of a busy logistics and warehouse environment.
You'll be visible, approachable and commercially aware, with the confidence to build strong relationships while also challenging standards when required.
About You
We're looking for an experienced HSE professional with a background in logistics, warehousing, distribution, retail or another similarly fast-paced operational environment.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in a regional, multi-site or operational HSE role.
- Experience within logistics, warehousing, distribution, retail or a comparable environment.
- A Level 6 Health & Safety qualification, such as NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, or be actively working towards one.
- Experience undertaking audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.
- The ability to influence and engage operational teams at all levels.
- The willingness and ability to travel regularly across the South West.
