Health & Safety Manager – Local Government

London | Circa £55,000 – £62,000 + Benefits | Hybrid

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional to join a London local authority and provide expert advice across a diverse range of council services.

The Role

You'll support the council's Health & Safety strategy, ensuring legal compliance while promoting a positive and proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing competent Health & Safety advice to managers and senior stakeholders.
• Developing and reviewing Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Monitoring Health & Safety performance and reporting to management.
• Delivering Health & Safety training and guidance.
• Supporting compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation.
• Advising on contractor, property, housing and operational risks.
• Promoting continuous improvement across the organisation.

Experience & Qualifications

You'll ideally have:

• NEBOSH Diploma / Level 6 Health & Safety qualification.
• CMIOSH or working towards Chartered status – desirable.
• Proven Health & Safety management or senior advisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience with audits, investigations, risk assessments and management systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Public-sector or local-government experience would be advantageous.
