Assured Safety Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a leading organisation to recruit an Environmental Scientist to join its established Health, Safety, Quality & Environment (HSQE) team.

This is a great opportunity for an Environmental professional looking to broaden their experience across civil engineering, construction, infrastructure and environmental projects.

Working across a varied portfolio of projects, you’ll combine site-based environmental support with ecological surveys, monitoring, auditing and project guidance. You’ll join an experienced and supportive team, with plenty of opportunity to develop your technical knowledge and progress your career.

The Role

You’ll support a wide range of environmental and ecological activities across projects throughout the UK, including:

• 
  

  Undertaking pre-construction ecological surveys, including protected species and invasive non-native species (INNS).

• 
  

  Carrying out bird nesting surveys, ecological site inspections and environmental monitoring.

• 
  

  Supporting the preparation and implementation of Environmental Management Plans.

• 
  

  Visiting live construction sites to undertake environmental audits and inspections.

• 
  

  Assisting with waste sampling, classification and environmental compliance.

• 
  

  Monitoring water quality and environmental controls during construction activities.

• 
  

  Undertaking desk-based research to identify environmentally sensitive areas, designated sites and potential project constraints.

• 
  

  Delivering toolbox talks and environmental awareness sessions to site teams.

• 
  

  Providing practical environmental advice and support to project and operational teams.

About You

You’ll ideally bring:

• 
  

  A degree in Environmental Science, Ecology or a related environmental discipline.

• 
  

  Some practical experience within an environmental or ecological role, ideally with exposure to construction, infrastructure or civil engineering projects.

• 
  

  A good understanding of UK environmental legislation and environmental best practice.

• 
  

  An interest in developing experience across both environmental management and ecology.

• 
  

  Strong communication and organisational skills, with the confidence to engage with site and project teams.

• 
  

  The ability to manage priorities across multiple projects.

• 
  

  A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
