Health & Safety Manager

Location: Surrey / Hybrid
Salary: £60,000 – £65,000 + Company Car/Car Allowance + Bonus

Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional with a strong background in civil engineering or infrastructure?

We are looking for a proactive and engaging Health & Safety Manager to join a growing organisation delivering a diverse range of civil engineering, environmental and infrastructure projects across the UK.

This is a visible, client-facing position, working closely with operational and project teams to provide practical Health & Safety support, promote a positive safety culture and drive continuous improvement across the business.

Reporting to the Group Head of QHSE, you will have the autonomy to build strong relationships across the organisation and with clients, ensuring high standards are maintained without losing sight of the realities of operational delivery.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

• Conducting site audits, inspections and compliance assessments across a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
• Providing practical Health & Safety advice and support to project teams, operational management and clients.
• Supporting the effective implementation and continual improvement of Health & Safety management systems.
• Investigating incidents, identifying root causes and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
• Monitoring compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards and company procedures.
• Producing clear reports, recommendations and improvement plans following audits and inspections.
• Working collaboratively with operational teams to promote ownership and embed a positive Health & Safety culture.
• Supporting the Group Head of QHSE with wider initiatives, policy development and continuous improvement activities.
• Developing strong client relationships and representing the business confidently on Health & Safety matters.

About You

You will bring:

• Strong Health & Safety experience gained within civil engineering, infrastructure, marine, earthworks, utilities or a closely related environment.
• A good working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice.
• Experience undertaking site audits, inspections and compliance assessments.
• The ability to provide pragmatic, solutions-focused advice within operational environments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage and influence at all levels.
• Experience working directly with clients and external stakeholders.
• NEBOSH Diploma-level or equivalent qualifications desirable (or working toward).
• A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to project locations as required.
