Assured Safety Recruitment are exclusively partnering with a leading housing trust based in central London seeking a strategic and experienced Head of Health, Safety and Environment to lead its health, safety, and environmental agenda. This is a pivotal role for a forward-thinking professional who thrives on shaping policy, driving cultural change, and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents, staff, and contractors.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Estates, you will lead a small, dedicated HSE team and work collaboratively across departments to embed a proactive safety culture. You’ll be responsible for developing and implementing strategic HSE frameworks aligned with regulatory requirements and organisational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the trust’s HSE strategy
- Oversee compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation across housing stock and operations
- Manage and mentor a small HSE team, fostering professional growth and accountability
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations, ensuring lessons learned are embedded
- Act as the competent person for HSE matters, liaising with external regulators and stakeholders
- Deliver regular reports and strategic insights to the executive team and board
- Champion continuous improvement and innovation in HSE practices
About You
- NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma (or equivalent) is essential
- Proven experience in a senior HSE role, ideally within housing, property, or construction sectors
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing a small team
- Strategic mindset with the ability to influence at all levels
- Excellent knowledge of UK HSE legislation and best practice
- Confident communicator with a collaborative approach
