The Company
Assured Safety Recruitment is working with a civil service organisation to recruit a Head of Operational Health & Safety on a 23 month fixed term contract.
In this role you will lead compliance with regulatory requirements in Health, Safety and Welfare.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and influence the direction of health and safety strategy and policy in both the UK and overseas to ensure corporate governance arrangements for health, safety and welfare are in line with statutory and regulatory requirements
- Devise and develop health and safety policies, procedures and guidance as part of the Health and Safety Management System
- Plan and deliver Annual audit programme to meet external audit compliance standards and to identify areas for health and safety improvement and to develop practical, cost effective recommendations to implement
- Support the commercial bid team by provision of relevant and timely information
- Implement effective corporate processes for health, safety and welfare to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance, and drive continual improvement initiatives
- Provide subject specialist expertise and leadership and influence culture change initiatives
- Lead investigations into serious accidents, incidents and complaints to identify root causes
- Devise, develop and deliver appropriate health and safety training and education programmes
You will manage all of the above by building and maintaining excellent working relationships with internal colleagues, clients, external contractors and external bodies. You will be based at the Bedfordshire office but may be required to travel on occasion for this role.
Your experience
You will be a Chartered Member of IOSH and will hold a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent qualification).
You will have previous experience of delivering safety management across a worldwide platform, managing a team of safety professionals and using health & safety management systems.
