Safety, Health and Environment Manager
Location: South Lanarkshire

Salary: Up to £50,000
As Safety, Health and Environment Manager you will form a key part of the Operational Leadership Team. You will lead the development and delivery of best in class Safety, Health and Environmental solutions. You will build and embed a safety culture and ensure the Group’s Scottish manufacturing sites are a safe place to work and visit.
You will ensure the highest possible standards of SHE Management are achieved in line with the Group Health and Safety Policy and Environmental Policy and you will lead the development and implementation of the Local Safety, Health and Environmental Strategic Plan.
The key elements of your role are;
- To promote a strong Health and Safety culture, encourage leadership through competency, worker engagement, behaviours etc. across all Scottish sites.
- To assist senior management in setting measurable safety, health and environmental objectives for their team.
- To plan and implement a robust SHE Management System
- To develop and undertake external and internal safety, health and environmental audits to ensure continual improvement.
- To set priorities to prevent accidents, reduce employer liability claims and improve employee wellbeing.
- Introducing and implementing in conjunction with senior management formal local safety, health and environmental strategy that aligns with the overall Division and Group Strategy and vision.
- Assisting in the development, implementation and reviewing of the Company Health and Safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Accountable for the coordination of the site training and ensure provisions are in place for the site teams and that H&S leadership training is continually being developed and implemented.
- Developing & undertaking subject specific internal safety, health and environmental audits.
- Carrying out and reviewing specific Risk Assessments/Impact Assessments as required and maintaining risk profiling register on site on a Plan Do Check Act basis.
- Being actively involved in the management and reduction of risk within the business; inclusive of maintenance of the operating sites master risk profile register.
- Responsible for assisting site senior leaders and their teams in identifying areas where the prevention or reduction of incident rates or work-related ill health can occur setting in conjunction with Departmental Heads, effective KPI’S aimed at reduction of accident trends and improvement of employee wellbeing.
To apply for this role;
You will be able to clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills, project/change management and senior stakeholder engagement. Your experience doesn’t necessarily need to be in a manufacturing environment, a medium to high hazard environment with exposure to a variety of technical risks would be sufficient. More important are your past achievements and examples of cultural and behavioural change. You will hold the Nebosh Diploma or equivalent such as SVQ Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
