Interim Estates, Facilities & Health and Safety Advisor (3-6 months) (3/5 days per week)

About the role
As Interim Estates, Facilities & Health and Safety Advisor, you will provide essential support to the schools and MAC Central Team for Estates, Facilities & Health and Safety across of the MAC.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Safeguard, develop and manage the estate.
- Responsible for ensuring the MAC and the individual schools within the MAC are compliant and operating best practice in relation ot Health and Safety law, and the statutory and regulator requirements relating to estates and premises.
- Day to day line management of all site Managers/Caretakers
- Day to day support to schools for the management of large MAC wide contracts for key ancillary services (caretaking, cleaning, catering, energy and water), recognising that there is an element of effective procurement activity within this role.
- Support to the existing MAC and any other schools that join the Academy at a future date.
Estates Management
- Develop and implement an Asset Management Strategy across the MAC and provide training and support for premises and staff in its usage.
- Develop, prepare, prioritise and implement a strategic MAC-wide capital improvement and replacement plan and individual school capital improvement and development plans, identifying available grants and preparing bids for funding in consultation with the DES.
- Ensure the relevant planning and construction processes are undertaken in line with building and contractual obligations, ensuring that value for money is achieved and evidenced in the awarding of all contracts and that any trustees' requirements are met.
- Act as the client side project manager for large schemes, liaising with architects, contractors, surveyors, to ensure that projects are delivered on schedule, to budget and in line with the MAC's Health and Safety procedures.
- Understand the Every compliance system for School condition compliance and ensure a consistent take up across all MAC schools, maximising the use of this system.
- Ensure condition surveys are maintained for all sites within the MAC, effectively liaising with facilities staff to develop and implement an annual maintenance programme for each school's estate and assets.
- Develop and implement consistent facilities management systems, processes, and practices across all the schools in the MAC and thereby realising maximum efficiency.
Risk Management
- Work with colleagues to ensure that the MAC school's operational risks including unfilled places, data protection, site security, health and safety and risks to business interruption and continuity are proactively and effectively identified, evaluated, controlled, and managed.
