The Company
Assured Safety Recruitment has been engaged by an innovative leader in the logistics market to recruit for a Regional Health, Safety, Environment Manager on a permanent basis. The sites are storage and distribution centres with a requirement for COMAH expertise.
The role has direct responsibility for two EHS Managers and manages four sites in the Midlands region, based from Chesterfield. This is a newly created role due to company expansion.
Job Description
As Regional Health, Safety and Environment manager your responsibilties will be;
- To deliver the Company’s safety management systems, to advise on the performance of risk assessments and the review of SSOW and recommendations for improvements.
- To provide specialist support and advice in the investigation of incidents and to coach operational managers if required.
- To provide specialist safety advice to management on and control of health, safety and welfare matters and on the development of working practices that comply with relevant legislation and are in scope of ISO standards
- To contribute to the development of H&S strategy, risk plans and the delivery of policies and practices to support them actively contributing to the HSE targets and safety awareness.
- To provide information on safety matters throughout the business and, in conjunction with the safety committees, input to and implement programmes to promote a positive safety culture within the sector.
- In conjunction with operational managers, support the design and delivery of a comprehensive programme of safety training, tailored for the needs of each job role.
- Ensuring sites adopt appropriate Health and Safety targets and standards for their own areas of responsibility in the control of loss and operation of best safety practice.
- To analyse incident trends for continuous improvement
- To aid the delivery of company energy reduction commitments
- Monitoring and auditing safety performance
Your experience
Candidates will need to have the following skills and experience:
- Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with legal and external bodies
- Assessing the competence of external contractors and maintaining the approved contractor listing.
- Compiling written briefs to update the business on changes to legislation, codes of practice, industry best practice or other sources.
- Previous experience of Health & Safety within industry, ideally transport and logistics, but not essential
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Computer literate with a good understanding of MS office applications
- Able to work to tight deadlines and manage their own time effectively
- Willing to travel as required within the UK
- Thorough understanding of current Health & Safety Legislation and its implementation within the workplace, COMAH PUWER, LOLER etc.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (or close to completion)
- Must have operational and Management experience of working with COMAH sites
