Description

Assured Safety Recruitment is pleased to be partnering with a highly regarded civil engineering contractor as they expand their Health & Safety team. We are seeking a skilled and proactive SHEQ Advisor to support sites across the Anglia region, playing a pivotal role in the provision of operational SHEQ assistance.

Reporting directly to the SHEQ Manager, this role is predominantly site-based and will involve the following key responsibilities:

  • Providing comprehensive SHEQ support to both site and operational management teams
  • Conducting thorough inspections of sites and depot facilities to ensure full compliance with both legal and internal standards
  • Identifying areas for improvement and liaising with site management teams to implement corrective actions
  • Contributing to the continuous development of the SHEQ management system and associated procedures
  • Delivering SHEQ training sessions and toolbox talks as required
  • Issuing and distributing Safety Alerts in response to emerging risks or incidents
  • Developing PowerPoint presentations and assisting in the delivery of monthly stand-down meetings, including the presentation of relevant statistics and data
  • Attending safety meetings as required
  • Performing unannounced, cause-related, and post-incident drug and alcohol testing
  • Supporting the development of behavioural strategies to reinforce the organisation’s SHEQ initiatives and fostering a positive safety culture across sites
  • Leading investigations into accidents, incidents, and service strikes, ensuring thorough reporting and analysis
  • Reviewing, updating, and revising controlled documents in alignment with the quality management system and client specifications
  • Issuing appointment letters for Temporary Works Co-ordinators/Supervisors following training and new appointments
  • Providing cover for the SHEQ Manager during holiday periods and as required

The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in a SHEQ Advisor role, ideally within the civil engineering sector. You will hold a NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum Health & Safety qualification, along with a robust understanding of the CDM Regulations and Temporary Works.

As a substantial proportion of the role involves travel to construction sites across East Anglia, a full, valid driving licence is required.
