Health and Safety Manager, Fixed Term Contract (12 months)

Assured Safety Recruitment are working with a diverse public sector organisation in the recruitment of a Health and Safety Manager for a 12-month fixed term contract. This contract represents a fantastic opportunity to work with a well-regarded and important public sector service, ensuring operational teams are given sound advice. You will ensure operational teams are supported directly through health and safety related guidance, policy and training and indirectly ensuring the organisations support services are legally compliant and working to best practice. The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for the line management of two team members. The role is a fulltime post working 37 hours and the organisation offer flexible hours in line with their flexi-time scheme. There will be some travel other sites in Wales, a pool car is available for work related travel.

The Role

You will lead on Health, Safety and Welfare Audits of sites to ensure compliance with legislation and ensure that they are followed up to a satisfactory conclusion.

You will develop and deliver briefings and training sessions to employees to increase their awareness of the organization’s Health and Safety arrangements which is to include induction training for all new employees.

You will advise support with Injury Reports, Near Miss Reports and Vehicle Accident and make recommendations or respond accordingly

You will monitor, prepare and distribute Injury and Accident Performance Statistics across the organisation as a whole on a quarterly basis 

You will organise, plan and run the Health, Safety & Welfare Committee Meeting. Including Director briefings, Agenda’s, Minutes and Action list

You will Lead on the development and review of the Health, Safety and Welfare Policy and Safety Procedural Guidance so that they embody all the relevant current Acts, Regulations and Approved Codes of Practice and Guidance

You will assist with the review and completion of Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, Manual Handling Assessments, Noise & HAV Assessments and DSE Assessments to ensure legal compliance.

Person

You will hold a Nebosh Certificate

You will have practical health and safety experience leading the health and safety agenda in a diverse environment

You will have excellent IT skills and be comfortable using a corporate SHE Software platform

An awareness of OHSAS 18001 or ISO 45001 would be beneficial from training or experience

Previous experience as a line manager is highly desirable
