Job Description
- The Environmental Advisor will promote, develop and establish a positive Environmental culture ensuring business engagement with Environmental performance, risk and regulatory compliance. You will deliver ongoing regulatory and ISO14001 compliance by advising business whilst directly administering and completing all environmental reporting and handling the technical relationship with the Treatment Plant.
- Develop policies, procedures, systems and training to enable the business to meet its legislative requirements - Build and manage professional relationships and partnerships, in particular with; SEPA, HSE and Regulatory Bodies
- Manage Site company relationship to ensure all necessary licences to operate are gained and permits are in place to enable uninterrupted manufacturing - Maintain overview of Environmental Incident statistics, analyse trends, and ensure appropriate remedial actions being applied where necessary
- Ensure all routine reporting to SEPA is completed on time, in full and to appropriate standard - Administer environmental data, co-ordinating and organising all necessary external services to support Environmental reporting (e.g. effluent testing, groundwater sampling, Env. noise survey)
The Successful Applicant
- Recognised qualification in Environmental management (IEMA foundation certificate or above)
- Experience of coordinating regulatory interactions with HSE
- Stakeholder management experience
- Deep working knowledge of organisational compliance and in particular, the practical application of documented management systems (e.g. administering ISO14001)
- Experience of developing new policies and procedures to implement Environmental and Human Factors requirements
- Demonstrate ability to interpret, apply and communicate legislative requirements
- Experience of dealing with regulatory bodies (e.g. HSE,SEPA)
- Displays commercial and operational awareness
- Exercises effective managerial judgement
- Attends to detail thoroughly whilst committed to compliance and strategic intent
- Emotionally controlled and copes well under pressure
